What we're about
We believe that scouting fills a role in a child's life that is unique. While we certainly do a lot of the same activities that kids can get in church, school and their organized sports, scouting is unique in our focus on three basic elements of a child's growth and development..... Achievement, Advancement, and Adventure.
- Achievements
- are the building blocks of the scouting experience. At every rank, in every Den, and on every day, Scouts work on achievements, overcoming challenges, building character, and receiving recognition, as they go.
- Advancement
- is the progression that every Scout makes through the scouting ranks. The promise of advancement helps children get focused on long term goals that require many steps to accomplish. Scouts learn to respect the accomplishments of others and wear their uniforms with the proud knowledge of their own accomplishment. Click on any of the Rank badges to the right to learn what its all about.
- Adventure
- is perhaps the most unique aspect of the scout experience. From camping, canoeing, or hiking to an overnight at the Zoo, a waterpark, or a baseball game, Pack 489 is always on the go with outdoor and indoor adventures. Scouts learn that life is full of adventures and sharing them with their adult partner can create a special bond that lasts forever.
