Cub Scouts in Third Grade belong to the Bear Den. The Bears meet each month, at a planned location.
The Den Leader plans the meeting schedule and activities for the year to align with the monthly Pack themes and to prepare
for the Pack meetings. Normally, each meeting is hosted by one of the Den parents, who rotate the host reponsibility during
the year.
The focus of the Den meeting is on Achievement activities. The Bear Handbook contains a series
of Achievements that Bears must complete with their parent partners during the year to earn the Bear Badge. As Bears
complete their achievements, they become eligible to earn Progress Beads that are awarded at Den or Pack meetings. Bears can
also earn Gold and Silver Arrow Points for completing completing Elective Activities from the handbook.
In addition to the activities
listed in the Handbook, Bear cubs really love to earn Belt Loops for Academic and Sports achievements. A complete listing
of Belt loops available and the requirements to earn them can be found at the links listed on the
Info & Links page.
