Important Notes for Parents:
Cub Scouting can be a rewarding experience for a young boy. All of the activities of the Pack are geared to provide that for your child. Unlike in Boy Scouts, the parent partner in Cub Scouts is an integral part of every activity.

You will accompany your Cub Scout at every step, helping him complete his achievements and electives, going with him to Den and Pack meetings and sharing Pack event adventures with him. Your scout is counting on you, and so is the Pack.

Pack 489 is an all volunteer organization.  Every event, activity, and meeting is the result of dilligent planning and hard work by concerned parents just like you.  It only works for your child if you are committed and involved.  Opportunities for involvement range from coordinating a Den or Pack meeting or events to serving in the Leadership Group of the Pack.

Every parent can expect to volunteer host at least one or two Den Meetings during the year.  Further, our one main fundraiser each year is the annual popcorn sale that takes place in the Fall.  For this we ask that each Cub Scout and parent partner raise at least $300 in popcorn sales.  This provides the primary operating funds for Pack for the year.

We take many pictures during our meetings and events, and proudly post them on our website and in handouts and presentations we do for our Pack.   The odds are high that your scout will appear in some of these.  If for any reason you are uncomfortable with this or would prefer that your scout not appear  in Pack pictures or newsletters, please tell us so by filling out our Pack media form which can be found at the link below and returning it to your Den leader.
