Welcome to pack 489!
We're glad you came to visit. Pack 489 is a member of the
Dan Beard Council
of Greater Cincinnati in its
Blue Jacket District.
We are Chartered by
The Community of the Good Shepherd,
a Catholic Parish of the Archdiosese of Cincinnati. While many of our Cubs
call Good Shepherd their church home, our Pack includes and welcomes boys of
all faiths and denominations.
What we're about
We believe that scouting fills a role in a boy's life that is unique.
While we certainly do a lot of the same activities that boys can get in
church, school and their organized sports, scouting is unique in our focus
on three basic elements of a boy's growth and development.....
Achievement, Advancement, and Adventure.
Achievements
are the building blocks of the scouting experience. At every rank, in every
Den, and on every day, Scouts work on achievements, overcoming challenges,
building character, and receiving recognition, as they go.
Advancement
is the progression that every Scout makes through the scouting ranks.
The promise of advancement helps boys get focused on long term goals that
require many steps to accomplish. Scouts learn to respect the accomplishments
of others and wear their uniforms with the proud knowledge of their own
accomplishment. Click on any of the Rank badges to the right to learn what its
all about.
Adventure
is perhaps the most unique aspect of the scout experience. From camping,
canoeing, or hiking to an overnight at the Zoo, a waterpark, or a baseball
game, Pack 489 is always on the go with outdoor and indoor adventures.
Scouts learn that life is full of adventures and sharing them with their
adult partner can create a special bond that lasts forever.
